I imagine this review is going to be largely favourable and I'll tell you for why: this is my favourite episode of Pushing Daisies yet. It was almost perfect. Right from the start it begins in a brilliantly different way. With Young Olive Snook having a childhood adventure. It was ingenious, although due to my character preferences I am kind of left wanting next week's episode to start with a Young Emerson Cod having some kind of childhood adventure. Nethertheless it was a clever twist and a great way to start the episode. The episode then starts with a scene from the nunnery and at that point my brain hasn't surged forward to make the associations with the term bad habits and the clothing of nuns (that actually happened very far into the episode) and the penny only drops when Sister Larue does.
This episode has everything going for it. From Emerson's reaction to seeing Olive, to complex conspiracies, false leads, emotional moments, secrets finally revealed and a killer pig. There was nothing I did not like in this episode and I'm more than keen to see what happens next. Whether it's to do with Ned trying to find his father, Chuck wanting to reconnect to Lily and Vivian, Olive and the new waitress Brandi or Candi or something having a showdown or Emerson finally being on the trail of his daughter. It's all good stuff and I simply cannot wait to find out about it. Simply put Pushing Daisies is one of the best shows on TV at the moment, which is saying something because it's up against some steep competition and this episode was nothing short of exceptional.
