Instructions: List 10 different fictional characters from any fandom/s you like, number them 1 to 10 in any order you like, and don't peek at the questions until you're done. Then, answer the following questions.

1. Janitor [scrubs]
2. Dr. Gregory House [House]
3. Hiro Nakamura [Heroes]
4. Jayne [Firefly]
5. Lorne [Angel]
6. Spike [Buffy The Vampire Slayer]
7. Emerson Cod [Pushing Daisies]
8. Dexter Morgan [Dexter]
9. Donna Noble [Doctor Who]
10. John Locke [Lost]

#1 Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?

In terms of a crime fighting team this question pretty much answers itself. On one team there’s Jantior, Hiro, Lorne, Emerson and Donna (Hiro would have to do ALL the work in this team). On the other team there’s House, Jayne, Spike, Dexter and Locke. It’s not really a fair contest. The leader would be Locke because he’d insist, Dexter would be the second in command (effectively making Dexter the leader as all Locke really wants to do is find someone who sounds like they know what they’re talking about and do what they say), Spike would be the big guy (even though he isn’t big he’s technically speaking the strongest of the team), and House would be the smart guy. That just leaves Jayne with the role of the chick, which says something about the awesome factor of the team. I suppose technically the group dynamic could be improved by swapping Donna in instead of Jayne but Jayne's a more awesome character so I vote he stays in and just has to do his best with the role of the Chick. He's got the name for it after all.

#2 Gender-swap 2(House), 8(Dexter) & 10(Locke). Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?

That’s quite a tall order. Could I not genderswap Lorne, Hiro and Emerson instead? Lets just say that I have a feeling that genderswapped House, Dexter and Locke would all be unrecognisable. And I mean completely unrecognisable.

#3 Compare the matchups of 5(Lorne) & 8(Dexter) and 2(House) & 9(Donna). (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?

House would not put up with Donna for five minutes. I doubt he’d put up with her for one minute to be honest. In fact I have the distinct impression that he’d take one look at her, she’d be in a fuming rage of course, and he’d limp the other way. Probably tell 13 to go and deal with her.
Dexter and Lorne on the other hand. No I can’t really see that either. I can’t really imagine Lorne encouraging Dexter to croon to him and let out all his emotions and I can’t imagine Dexter wanting to be with anyone who isn’t Rita. So, so near but yet so far. Also Lorne would be the absolutely least plausible from Dexter’s home environment. I mean seriously. The guy has green skin and red horns. And he likes to sing. Miami is like Pylea when it comes to singing.

#4 Your team is 3(Hiro), 4(Jayne) & 9(Donna). The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?

4. Well I say it has to be Hiro for the physical because he can stop time and teleport you know. Jayne for the social challenge because well can you imagine Donna in a social challenge. And Donna in the mental challenge and just hope to got it’s DoctorDonna rather than RegularDonna.

#5 7(Emerson) becomes 5's(Lorne's) boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?

So Emerson Cod becomes Lorne’s boss in a PLAUSIBLE situation? There’s nothing plausible about that situation no matter how you spin it but okay whatever. Actually I think they’d get along pretty well eventually. Emerson would be bossing Lorne about (loving every second by the way) and then he’d probably accidentally sing something to himself and Lorne would be all over him getting him to open up. Which Emerson probably wouldn’t enjoy but Lorne’s a persistent one and he’d get him to open up sooner or later. And then everything would be fine, but not until then. Until then it would be hellish.

#6 1(Janitor) finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's(Spike's) continuity. As far as anyone other than 1(Janitor) or 6(Spike) is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 1(Janitor) be presumed to have had in 6's(Spike's) story, and could they fit in without going wonky?

6. So Janitor goes into the Buffyverse. He’d very probably be one of the background characters and true to form he'd decide to annoy someone arbitrarily every now and again. I’m thinking he’d probably pick on Xander. Then in season six he’d kind of team up with the Trio and become their leader. Then he’d get killed by Willow. Strangely enough I can picture Janitor sort of fitting into Buffy. So long as he didn’t actually appear every single week and was just sort of around messing with people every now and again.

#7 3(Hiro) and 7(Emerson) get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?
7. Under those circumstances I doubt they’d make any wishes because Emerson wouldn’t want to use the wishes to save the world and Hiro wouldn’t want to use the wishes for personal gain. Stalemate.

#8 6(Spike) and 3(Hiro) are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 1(Janitor). They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 1(Janitor) survive? How?

8. If Spike and Hiro want to kill Janitor, Janitor is dead. No question. Spike is a vampire with superhuman strength and well actually it doesn’t matter what Spike can do because Hiro can travel in time and space and can fight with a sword. Janitor is dead.

#9 6(Spike), 7(Emerson), 9(Donna) & 10(Locke) must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?
9. Spike, Emerson, Donna and Locke are in charge of an orphanage. Okay so Emerson would get into it because of the whole missing daughter issue. Donna probably would as well because she’s Donna. Locke would get on with it right away as long as someone told him to. Spike would go and do something else because he’s not much for looking after kids even with a soul. Donna would probably eventually have to be Santa because Emerson and Locke would be arguing over it. All in all I doubt it would be the small depressed children's best christmas ever and they would probably ask for a refund.

#10 3(Hiro) and 10(Locke) are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?

10. Can Hiro and Locke circumnavigate the world in eighty days or less? Hang on let me try that sentence again with more emphasis. Can HIRO NAKAMURA, MASTER OF TIME AND SPACE, and Locke circumnavigate the world in eighty days or less? ...Probably. I reckon since Hiro has the ability to instantaneously teleport anywhere (abilities were invented before 1900, look at Adam Munroe) then they could probably be done within eighty seconds and then go and get on with their respective storylines in their respective continuities
